Job description: Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this rolePrincipal Advisor – Strategy and Policy (National Mortality Review)Permanent | Full Time | AucklandWho we are:Our vision is hauora kounga mō te katoa, quality health for all.At Te Tāhū Hauora Health Quality and Safety Commission (Te Tāhū Hauora) we work with clinicians, providers and consumers to improve health and disability support services across Aotearoa New Zealand.Our goal is to ensure all groups get safe and high-quality care that matches their health needs, including improving access to care for those with needs that are not currently being addressed.Te Tāhū Hauora is a Crown entity with a board responsible to the Minister of Health.Join us as we partner with clinicians, providers and whānau to improve health and disability support services in Aotearoa..The role:This role is critical in supporting the National Mortality Review Committee (NMRC) to develop strategies and methods to reduce avoidable mortality in Aotearoa. You will collaborate with the National Mortality Management Group (NMRMG) and subject matter experts (SMEs) to deliver evidence-based reports and recommendations that impact on mortality.About you:

  • Tertiary qualification, preferably at PhD level with expertise in health, social sciences or economics.
  • Understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research approaches.
  • Strong understanding of avoidable mortality, and experience navigating the health and equity landscape.
  • Proven experience engaging effectively with diverse communities.
  • Ability to build and maintain trusting relationships.
  • Skilled at translating complex data into clear and actionable insights.
  • Understanding and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and culturally safe practices.
