Use your existing skill in payroll and/or rostering in this busy role supporting our front-line staff. Flexible location across NZ with option to WFH.Mō tēnei tūranga – about the roleReporting to the Manager, Payroll Services, this position is responsible for ensuring payroll services are fit for purpose in a Fire and Emergency New Zealand context. You will work with managers, rostering teams and system administrators, to assist with payroll related queries, updating rosters, and managing leave, along with processing the fortnightly payrun T&A data import. You will run daily reporting to check for and resolve errors and ensure accuracy in payroll outputs. Part of this role is to liaise with our application support team to proactively solve any errors occurring in our rostering system.Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga – What you’ll bring to the role:Bring your strong end to end payroll experience to a position requiring someone who can work well to strict deadlines and is incredibly detail oriented. You will be systems-savvy, quick to learn new tools and comfortable managing queries from a number of different sources. You will have clear communication skills and will be confident in responding to a range of payroll queries in a timely manner.This role may occasionally require work outside standard business hours to meet critical processing deadlines, so flexibility and reliability are key.To be successful in this role, we’d expect you will have:

  • End to end payroll and rostering background, preferably using SMS
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation in the New Zealand context
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with datasets
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to accurately interpret terms and conditions in employment agreements and organisational policies
  • Ability to manage competing priorities under pressure while maintaining accuracy and consistency in all tasks
