Job description: Payroll SpecialistA Flathead Valley leader in the accounting industry, founded in 1999, is hiring a Payroll Specialist/Bookkeeper. The firm provides a wide variety of high-quality professional services but prides themselves on integrity and providing personalized attention to each client.Your expertise in processing payroll and familiarity with tax returns will be essential in supporting our financial operations. • Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger entries
• Process payroll on a bi-weekly/monthly basis, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Extensive experience and skills in all facets of payroll preparation, payroll tax deposit calculations, and quarterly payroll reports.
• Prepare and file tax returns in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
• Reconcile bank statements and manage accounts payable/receivable
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
• Prepare financial statements and reports for management review
• Provide support during audits and ensure documentation is complete and organized
• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and accounting regulations

Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role
• Strong knowledge of payroll processing, tax return preparation and accounting principles and practices
• Familiarity with accounting software, QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
