In this role, you’ll play a key role to ensure compliance with statutory and business reporting obligations by delivering accurate, timely reports to government departments and internal stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include overseeing payroll tax and superannuation compliance and driving process improvements.Day to day you will:
- Prepare, reconcile, and remit monthly payroll taxes and superannuation, including year-end reconciliation.
- Ensure the timely submission of reports to State Revenue Departments, Superannuation Funds, and other internal stakeholders.
- Manage month/quarter-end reporting obligations and assist with clearing or expense accounts.
- Perform annualised salary reconciliations according to relevant industrial instruments.
- Review and improve existing processes, checklists, and spreadsheets to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Document payroll-related processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide support for all internal and external compliance requests.
- Monitor and resolve any payroll compliance risks and escalate where necessary.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure all processes and submissions are compliant.
QualificationsWhat we would like to see:
- Proven experience in Payroll Compliance, Payroll Business Analyst, or Payroll Accountant role.
- Strong experience with complex payroll functions, preferably using large payroll systems (Chris21 essential).
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel.
- High attention to detail and excellent time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment.
- Strong process improvement and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, or related field.
- Experience within a Media or Marketing business is an advantage.
