Job description: Payroll/Accounts Assistant – Galway CityMy client, a Galway engineering company are presently recruiting for a Payroll / Accounts Assistant. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of payroll procedures, compliance standards, and excellent time management skills. This person will have experience in payroll administration and be capable of handling multiple payroll cycles with accuracy.Payroll Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly and monthly Payroll runs.
  • Liaise with department heads in validating data for processing.
  • Ensure company compliance in relation to all aspects of payroll e.g. PAYE, PRSI, USC, LPT, BIK, Pension.
  • Respond to all employee payroll queries in an efficient manner
  • Liaise with HR department regarding processing of contract amendments, Starters/Leavers.
  • Preparation of payroll cost analysis and journals for review and posting.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and take ownership of role.
  • Management of ROS for various payroll returns.
  • Management of Enhanced Reporting Requirements for expenses/reimbursements paid through payroll for submission to Revenue

Accounts Responsibilities:

  • Process all banking transactions – payments runs to suppliers/intercompany, payroll, Revenue etc
  • Maintain monthly cashbook and bank reconciliations (EUR,USD,GBP)
  • Administer and process company credit cards/expense claims through Webexpenses portal
  • Adhering to strict close off month end deadline around journal entries
  • Submission of various statutory returns : VAT, VIES/Intrastat, CSO

Requirements:

  • Payroll qualifications – IPASS preferred or willing to study for same (facilitated).
  • Excellent knowledge of payroll legislation and employment tax experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience desired within a busy Irish payroll/Account’s environment
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, technical, and numerical abilities are crucial.
  • Highly Proficient in Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Positive attitude, cheerful and courteous demeanour.
  • Ability to remain calm whilst under pressure.
