Job description: OST (Opioid Substitution Treatment) Case ManagerCommunity Mental Health and Addictions ServicesHealth NZ/Te Whatu Ora – WhanganuiPermanent Part Time32 hours a week, 0.8 FTEHealth NZ/Te Whatu Ora Whanganui is committed to increase the diversity of our workforce, and actively focus on employing and building a sustainable Māori workforce which supports our pro-equity commitment.Ko te kaupapa | About the roleWe provide a range of mental health and addiction services in the community, rural areas and on our Whanganui Hospital campus.Our Mental Health and Addiction Services works in conjunction with primary health, mental health and addiction non-government organisations (NGOs), Kaupapa Maori services and community agencies to ensure service users/tangata whaiora needs are met in all aspects of their lives.Our work is strength based and has a recovery approach based on promoting hope, supportive environments, self-responsibility and self-determination while working within the legal and best practice guidelines for professional and New Zealand Health Service standards.The role:

  • The position works with service users/tangata whaiora, families/ whanau, communities, management, clinical leaders and the multi–professional teams to ensure timely and safe service delivery.
  • To provide Opioid Substitution Treatment programme services for the WDHB Alcohol and Other Drugs Service.
  • To provide quality care and services with and for service users/ tangata whaiora, and their family/whanau, which meets professional and organisational standards and legislative requirements ensure the service meets national and service level guidelines, and Health NZ/Te Whatu Ora policy of operations.

  • You must be able to demonstrate that you are registered with Nursing Council of New Zealand and that your scope of practice enables you to undertake the duties of this position.
  • Have a good knowledge of our community and the resources within it.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong interest in and compassion for the lives and experiences of others.
  • Ability to remain calm in a crisis situation.
  • Passionate and dynamic advocate for mental health.
  • Commitment to the Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi and Whānau Ora principles.
