Overview:Perform activities related to the day-to-day administration and maintenance of Oracle databases. Handle installations, upgrades, backups, and configurations. Collaborate with appropriate managers regarding problems with and capabilities of Oracle databases. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with Oracle Database in a production environment, both on prem, and in the cloud.Responsibilities:

  • Administration of Oracle databases across different versions
  • Knowledge in Oracle technology such as SQL, PL/SQL, backup, restore, Data Guard, etc.
  • Help plan backup/recovery strategy for all database servers
  • Data Guard maintenance and enhancement
  • Participate in project meetings to understand application and database requirements
  • Incorporate new features of Oracle Database and OS software
  • Develop maintenance and backup procedures, change control processes, and operational documentation
  • Maintain multiple production, development, and QA Oracle environments
  • Monitor file system space, database allocation, etc.; verify efficient use of disk storage; optimize space allocation and avoid out-of-space situations
  • Work with Oracle Support Services to resolve issues and be familiar with Oracle’s escalation procedures
  • Responsible for tri-weekly software releases onto our Oracle-based systems
  • 24/7 on-call coverage (on rotation)
  • Knowledge in Oracle Database installation, configuration, and upgrades as required
  • Work with analysts/developers on installing and maintaining 3rd-party software packages including helping to identify and resolve performance issues

Qualifications:Education

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent experience required

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience working on Oracle Databases in a production environment
  • Experience managing data, import and export, as well as with data replication techniques
  • Experience with Oracle tools and utilities
  • Experience working with file systems hosted in a SAN environment
  • Experience in Oracle DR technologies (RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, etc.)

Knowledge & Skill

  • Entry-level for more complex professional roles requiring a specific degree (e.g., computer science, accounting, etc.)
  • General professional knowledge or specialized vocational/technical skills for a variety of technical or administrative policies and procedures
  • Sound understanding of the skills and working knowledge required for a variety of practices and procedures
  • Specialized assignments usually requiring originality, relying on experience and judgment
  • Good understanding of the roles of the relevant functional groups within own area
