Job description: PURPOSE: Oversee, develop, maintain the verification of a quality assurance/food safety system to support compliance with FSMA and FSIS. Maintain CPWs organic certification. REPORTS TO: Senior Operations Manager OVERVIEW: This is a Full Time, 40 hour per week position based out of CPWs offices. Typical shifts are Monday through Friday, 7am 3pm. Occasional on-call or emergency response required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Support management of the operations team. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and developing employees; and resolving problems. Supports food safety policies, standard operating procedures, and prerequisite food safety control programs that meet legal and quality requirements and industry best practices as defined in our Food Safety program. Perform daily GMP Inspections. Responsible for the neatness and cleanliness of assigned work area. Identify and recommend changes to address any safety issues. Observe and enforce all safety rules to eliminate accidents and injuries. Operate appropriate material handling equipment (MHE), such as forklifts, scissor lift and pallet jacks in a safe and orderly manner to eliminate accidents and injuries. Ensure that MHE is maintained (perform daily inspection) and clean, report repair or service needs to supervisor to minimize equipment damage and down time. Assist with building maintenance projects. Continuous development and improvement, enforce, validate, and verify, risk-based preventive controls to identify and mitigate potential food safety risks or threats to the food supply and to implement appropriate corrective actions proactively to prevent contamination. Continuous development, verification, and mitigation of the sanitary transportation of foods in accordance with all Federal, State and County regulatory requirements. Continuous development and verification of all CPW staff training as it relates to quality assurance, cGMP’s, and established food safety systems. Serve as key contact with Federal, State and County regulatory agencies. Ensure key traceability, inspection program management, vendor management, corrective actions and environmental microbial program metrics are established, and the delivery of the established metrics and Key Performance Indicators. Maintain certification documentation for all certified organic product and update annually. Be responsible for managing USDA/Department of Ag/Organic Certification and all quality assurance and food safety audits. (Records of all reviews and reasons for amending documents, validations and changes to the Quality System shall be maintained). Manage CPW’s inspections, traceability, testing, vendor auditing, allergen controls, and corrective actions. Continuously develop and oversee standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and standard sanitation operating procedures (SSOP’s) that supports company food safety and quality assurance programs and requirements. Lead CPW as the subject matter expert on decisions related to quality programs and processes. Be the primary facility contact and communication for customers and suppliers for all quality, food safety and regulatory issues. Support vendor onboarding through food safety documentation review and advisement. Maintain and develop all food safety and quality assurance programs and lead CPW toward a SQF certification. Conduct and coordinate mock recalls and inspections quarterly with members of management team. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of warehouse operations, best practices, and wholesale produce is highly preferred. Computer literacy: Microsoft Office, ERP/WMS Must have demonstrated the ability to develop and oversee HARPC programs and deliver food safety training. Must be able to evaluate information quickly, identify key issues, and formulate conclusions based on sound, practical judgment, and experience. Must have a strong sense of personal ownership while maintaining a team-oriented environment. Familiarity with National Organic Standards and USDA organic handling guidelines preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with customers and coworkers from diverse cultural backgrounds. Ability to work with TCCP to create and inclusive environment where all are welcomed. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES This job operates in a food cold storage environment and in an office setting. Extended periods of standing while walking the production floor and periods of time sitting using a computer or other devices are common. Occasional work in coolers and freezers (0-34 degrees F) Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. SAFETY AND SECURITY Observes safety and security procedures such as Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s), Material Safety Data (MSD) sheets, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), Emergency Evacuations and Building Security; Reports potentially unsafe conditions and injuries: near miss/incidents/accidents; Uses and cares for company equipment and materials properly.
