If you have experience across Occupational Hygiene, OHS or similar, and are keen to join New Zealand’s largest gold mine, apply now!This role will provide health and safety services to support to Macraes Operation to ensure site compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, regulatory authorities and OceanaGold’s Health, Safety and Environment Performance Standards Manual.Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct occupational hygiene monitoring, through the collection and preparation of samples and results. This includes accurately recording valid air monitoring and noise dosimetry samples, ambient noise, as well as respiratory and hearing protector device fit testing.
  • Maintain the company health and hygiene electronic database ‘Cority’
  • Support pre-employment, periodic and exit health assessments at the Macraes Operation
  • Maintain the site chemical inventory system ‘ChemAlert’ from a Health & Safety perspective
  • Participation in health exposure investigations and provide advice as required
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of effective, specific and targeted programs to increase awareness and control of exposure risks such as dust, noise, heat and vibration.
  • Facilitate quarterly Health and Hygiene Committee meetings and deliver education sessions/presentations to workforce on hygiene related risks
  • Conduct fitness for work testing including drug and alcohol testing and hydration testing
  • Identify and implement health promotion strategies to optimise the health and wellbeing of the workforce.
  • Planning, organisation and escalation of health and safety services/programmes, testing and results as required

Qualifications

  • Current Driver Licence
  • Formal skills in Occupational Hygiene, OHS, Engineering or relevant Science

Experience:

  • Experience in Occupational Hygiene, Environmental, OHS, Nursing or field sampling
  • Understanding of health and safety management systems
  • Working knowledge of New Zealand Health & Safety Legislation, Codes of Practice, and the Privacy Act
  • Competent computer skills in Microsoft suite including Word and Excel
  • Ability to communicate & relate well to technical and non-technical staff
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
