The opportunity:As a Network Access and Regulation Specialist, you will be at the forefront of addressing connection enquiries, offering expert advice on navigating the complexities of the National Electricity Rules (NER) Chapter 5, and developing regulatory strategies that influence Powerlink’s business activities.Moreover, you’ll foster inclusive and productive relationships with diverse stakeholders by engaging in negotiations, seeking approval from the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) for access policies pertaining to Designated Network Assets, as well as formulate access and pricing principles for other shared network assets.You’ll collaborate closely with energy generators and large industrial customers, interpreting intricate rules and regulations to resolve issues and develop compliant connection pathways.Strategically, you will assess market rule changes, determine Powerlink’s response to regulatory shifts, and initiate rule change, if necessary, while adeptly managing the business impact and supporting internal stakeholders through any change.The people you’ll join:Based in Virginia and reporting to the Manager Access and Regulation, you will work within the Business Development Group within the Network and Business Development division.The Business Development team delivers large and complex connections to support the renewable energy transition, meeting the needs of a diverse range of customers. By combining innovation with insight, the team provides safe, cost-effective, and reliable solutions, ensuring customers can efficiently and confidently progress their projects with certainty.In a dynamic environment where regulation is subject to change and network load is increasing, this team plays a key role in supporting a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver complex projects.What you’ll bring:You’ll have a tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business, Law, Economics, Commerce or Finance or another area relevant to regulation coupled with relevant industry experience.You’ll apply your commercial acumen and leverage your exceptional communication skills by interpreting complex information, rules and legislation and explaining into simple, actionable advice ensuring compliance and all obligations can be met. You’ll have proven success providing commercial or regulatory advice and support within the energy and resources, utilities or major infrastructure sectors.You’ll have an agile and innovative approach to identifying and solving problems, working effectively with diverse stakeholders to explore new possibilities and implement improved processes.You’ll be skilled at producing insightful data analysis, economic, pricing, and financial modelling that clearly conveys complex concepts to diverse stakeholders enabling you to drive project outcomes.What matters most is your drive to make an impact for your customers.
