DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Microsoft SQL Database Administrator to join our Federal Government Client team.Role responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimise Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure high availability and performance.
- Implement backup, and disaster recovery strategies for Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other database environments.
- Perform performance tuning and query optimisation for Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, and other databases.
- Design and implement database security policies, access controls, and user permissions.
- Work closely with development teams to optimise stored procedures, indexing, and query execution.
- Conduct database capacity planning and resource allocation to ensure optimal system performance.
- Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
- Stay up to date with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and other database technology advancements and recommend improvements.
Skills
- 5+ years of experience as a Microsoft SQL Database Administrator.
- Strong understanding of T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and query optimisation.
- Experience in database security, access control, and compliance.
- Strong practical experience using scripting for database automation.
- Experience with PostgreSQL administration, including database setup, maintenance, and query optimisation.
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions (Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS for SQL Server/PostgreSQL).
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases and modern data architectures.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Experience working with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerised environments.
