Individuals in this position are responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic sales plans, and ensuring the successful origination of new deals. This document outlines the key responsibilities, skills, and qualifications required for a successful career in Sales and Origination.Key ResponsibilitiesSales and Origination professionals are expected to undertake a variety of tasks to achieve their objectives. The primary responsibilities include:Business Development

  • Identify and target potential clients and markets for business expansion.
  • Conduct market research to understand industry trends and customer needs.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with account teams and cross-functional solution architects to develop value-focused, industry-specific propositions.
  • Drive go-to-market (GTM) activities, including thought leadership, client roadshows, and conference presentations, highlighting Accenture’s unique capabilities in Life Sciences.
  • Lead the development of strategic transformation roadmaps and operating models that integrate technology with business process improvement.
  • Lead proposal responses, value case development, and contract shaping for large-scale transformation programmes.

Client Management

  • Engage directly with senior stakeholders (VPs, Heads of process development/CMC/Manufacturing/Quality) to influence digital strategy and co-create transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through regular communication and follow-up.
  • Manage client expectations and address any concerns promptly.
  • Negotiate terms and agreements to secure new deals and contracts.

Sales Reporting and Analysis

  • Track and analyse sales performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales activities and outcomes.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on sales data.

Required Skills and QualificationsTo excel in Sales and Origination, individuals must possess a combination of technical and interpersonal skills. The essential skills and qualifications include:Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree (Masters, PhD) preferred.

Professional Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in the Life Sciences industry (Pharma, Biotech), with strong domain expertise in Manufacturing, Tech Transfer and QC, ideally in a number of modalities.
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, or deal origination roles.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic sales plans.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of technical domains such as MES, LIMS, RIMS, QMS, ERP integration) to guide technical solutioning and delivery oversight, digital quality, digital twin, and supply chain transformation.
  • Experienced in leading multi-year, multi-workstream consulting or systems integration programmes.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
