Job description: Job Title: Commissary Team MemberDepartment: CommissaryReports To: Commissary ManagerFLSA Status: HourlyPOSITION SUMMARYThe commissary team member assists with finalizing and packaging commissary products for delivery to store locations. This position ensures orders are filled for store locations correctly and items are stored to maintain quality of the product until the delivery team arrives for pick-up. Final clean-up of the commissary is performed by this position as well to prepare for the next day’s production. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the commissary and providing excellent customer service to internal and external partners.CORE FUNCTIONS OF POSITIONProvides exceptional customer service and excellent quality products.

  • Packages completed product for store orders.
  • Stages product for delivery pick-up.
  • Develops ongoing professional relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Answers the telephone and assists callers using proper phone etiquette.
  • Addresses customer concerns promptly and professionally and resolves issues when a customer is not satisfied with the service or product received.
  • Deliver outstanding product and customer service, while developing customer loyalty.

Communicates and works cooperatively with Food Service Manager to maintain department standards.

  • Ensures work environment is clean: Keeps prep counter and floor free of food and garbage, washes dirty dishes, and performs daily cleaning duties.
  • Follows Mega’s guidelines, including food handling and safety procedures.
  • Always makes the best use of time and resources; seeks ways to reduce costs.
  • Prevents loss by knowing and complying with Mega’s safety rules.
  • Identifies the sequence of tasks and the resources needed to achieve a goal and prioritizes key action steps.
  • Anticipates the impacts and risks of decisions and actions.

Contributes to overall team readiness

  • Assists in achieving projected production goals.
  • Performs all clean-up of the commissary to ensure readiness for production.
  • Pulls and fills product and packaging as necessary.
  • Makes appropriate decisions in a fast-paced environment (side work, station plan, cleaning tasks etc.).
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Customer-service experience preferred.
  • Prior food production experience is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Frequent stopping, bending, squatting, kneeling, walking, reaching turning, climbing stairs/ladders.
  • Must be able to work at a fast pace.
  • Exposed to warm temperatures and occasionally cold temperatures for short time periods (freezers and coolers).
