Job description: Our client, a leader in the automation field, is looking for a Mechanical Designer to join their team on a long term basis in the Oakville area.DescriptionOur client makes automated machinery and equipment for the automotive and nuclear industries. This project is for their automotive division. They have a number of projects upcoming with various clients, including a current project with MotoMan. There are lead engineers running with the project, but where they need support is in design, specifically part and component modeling and material selection. This persons job will be 100% design work where they will be assigned to a specific project and given design tasks to be completed within each project. This will include completing detailed and assembly drawings for automation, robotic and material handling equipment. They will use Solidworks to do all design work.Other responsibilities include:– Create concepts and fully develop designs, including detail drawings, detailed bills of materials and engineering calculations, using 3D CAD software. Designs will be based on input from: Engineering Management, Project Management, Customers, the Manufacturing Team, and other team members from Mechanical and Controls Design, Procurement and Suppliers.– Demonstrate the understanding of the project by defining machine operations and processes required to generate cycle time/process sequence charts and test parameters.– Create Bills of Material (BOMs) for manufactured and commercial items.– Works with manufacturing and assembly staff to implement the designed equipment.– Work effectively in a cross functional team with Electrical and Controls Designers, Programmers, the Assembly Team and Project Management to develop, design and deliver custom design and built assembly automation equipment.– Assists / assigns work to other members of the Mechanical Design team that have been assigned to support other designers.– Provide construction and assembly technical support during the fabrication and build phase of the project– Participate in the development and implementation of design / drafting standards, cost reduction methods, and continuous improvements for the purpose of integrating design technology that will facilitate enhanced safety, enhanced functionality, and reduced costsMUST HAVE: 5+ years of Mechanical Design experience within the automation or custom machinery industryMUST HAVE: experience designing assembly lines, conveyers, bearings, mechanisms, pneumatics, modeling and detailing of assembly drawingsMUST HAVE: Professional experience using Solidworks, GD&T, and tolerancingPay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 – $42.00Workplace TypeThis is a fully onsite position in Oakville,ON.À propos d’Actalent:Actalent est un chef de file mondial des services d’ingénierie et de sciences et des solutions de talents.
