It’s a big moment for all of us – and we all have our part to play.We offerWe are looking for an experienced professional driven by care, compliance and true interest in creating the right conditions and environment for our more than 13.000 seafaring colleagues.As our new Marine Labour Relations Manager you will join a team with two other colleagues that report to the Global Head of Marine Labour Relations. The Global Marine Labour Relations team is responsible for the following main areas:

  • Handling all complaint cases related to harassment, bullying and discrimination (incl. sexual harassment) that are raised by seafaring colleagues. This includes both investigations and decisions on disciplinary outcomes.
  • Collective bargaining agreements, including updating of wage scales, benchmarking of wages and continuous development of terms and conditions
  • Processes and Documentation, which includes updating of standard employment contracts, review and optimization of policies and procedures,
  • Compliance projects, which for example can relate to MLC, GDPR, and local legislation.

The team is part of the Marine People and Culture Team, which is responsible for the safe manning of the owned fleet consisting of around 300 vessels and is a key enabler of the Fleet Management and Technology strategy. The function manages a pool of around 12,000+ seafaring colleagues from 34 different nations and is focused on creating a psychologically safe, respectful, and inclusive working environment for our colleagues at sea.Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving investigation of complaint cases in a respectful, thorough, and strategic manner, whereby you contribute to securing awareness and trust in our handling of bullying, harassment and discrimination cases
  • Participate in updating and developing processes and procedures related to labor relations
  • Monitor and be responsible for compliance with collective bargaining agreements, international regulations and local legislation
  • Draft and optimize standard documents related to the areas of Marine Labor Relations.
  • Participate in or be responsible for ad hoc compliance projects in the Marine People & Culture organization
  • Benchmarking of wage scales for our seafarers on an international level

What Are We Looking For

  • Experience with handling employee complaint cases and conflicts between employees with a focus on disciplinary consequences.
  • Ability to implement compliance in a simple and operational manner
  • Experience of dealing with complex labor relations in a global context.
  • Experience in managing CBAs, complex wage scales, and focus on details in the regulations of seafarers’ employments.
  • Experience with handling seafarers’ employments is an advantage.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

The job is based in Copenhagen in Maersk’s offices in Nordhavn.
