Job description: Job DescriptionJob Title: Manager Strategic & Treaty PolicyRole type: Permanant, full-timeLocation: WellingtonSalary band & range: Band A $158,916 to $212,730 depending on skills and experienceKōrero mō te Tūranga – About the RoleThe Manager Strategic & Treaty Policy is a newly created position within our Strategy, Insights and Evidence directorate in MPI’s Policy and Trade branch, bringing the exciting opportunity to design a work programme and embed the team culture.This team are responsible for providing policy advice to the Ministry’s Senior Leadership Team, the Minister of Agriculture and other relevant Ministers on the strategic opportunities and risks to the primary sector with Māori at the heart of this strategic vision.Your team will design strategic frameworks and collate, assess and communicate insights that can inform New Zealand’s response to opportunities and risks, and ensure the primary industries adapt in ways that are productive, sustainable and inclusive.You will provide support and input on work across the Policy and Trade branch and other parts of MPI and externally engage with iwi and stakeholders, including industry representatives. Mō tō mātou Rōpū – About the TeamThe Policy and Trade Branch provides sector-level strategic thinking and evidence-based advice for effective government decision-making for systems related to agriculture, forestry, fisheries, biosecurity, food, animal welfare and rural communities.Reporting to the Director Strategy Insights & Evidence, the Manager Strategic & Treaty Policy is a key member of the directorates leadership team and will play a pivitol role in embedding recent change.The Strategic & Treaty Policy team leads key projects that capture insights on trends, opportunities and threats on the horizon to inform strategic direction.
