Nau mai haere mai – join us to fulfil our vision and mission.The role / Te mahiThe Strategic Engagement Manager (External Engagement Division) is a member of the Office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor, External Engagement (DVC (EE)) with specific responsibilities for the development and implementation of an external stakeholder engagement strategy that supports the University of Otago’s strategic ambitions and plans.The role’s mandate is to manage a framework for identifying, evaluating and cultivating strategic stakeholder relationships, foster long-term partnerships, and ensure effective communication across all levels to maximise opportunities for the University. Through innovative planning, coordination and reporting, this role contributes to the University’s local, national, and international impact by enhancing engagement with key strategic stakeholders, supporting institutional growth and upholding the University’s reputation.The External Engagement Division/Te Ringa Toro incorporates Marketing, Communications, Schools Liaison, International, Development and Alumni Relations, and Pacific Community Engagement. • A tertiary qualification, preferably in a relevant field.
• Proven expertise in stakeholder engagement and building long-term partnerships.
• Strong skills in stakeholder mapping, written and verbal communication, CRM systems, and use of data to inform decision-making and stakeholder management.
• Experience in communications, budget management, and/or event planning.
• Dedication to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner, including understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pacific values.
