We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.The Communications and Engagement group is a core part of the Government and Executive Services directorate, leading and supporting all Ministry communications and engagement and associated processes and channels.Ko ake mahi – What you’ll doThe Manager Strategic Communications provides a focus on organisational strategic alignment and the communications role in it. You will be leading a team who have a critical role in leading, delivering and assessing the Ministry’s full suite of communications and managing the team through projects that reflect the Ministry’s priorities.You will bring together insights, research and data, assessed against risks and opportunities, to drive the development of communication to explain government policy, the Ministry’s work and to change behaviour for the better. You will ensure all communications activity is measured, undertake regular reviews of approaches and plans to ensure objectives have been achieved and a continuous improvement approach to the workKo pūkenga – What you’ll bring

  • Seasoned people leader with 10+ years of communications experience and a track record of high-quality delivery and achieving business outcomes
  • Proven track record providing high-quality engagement advice to Ministers and senior leaders and driving work programmes to ensure delivery of work
  • Strong intellectual capability and judgement to analyse large, complex issues and readily grasp and synthesise idea, analysis and advice produced by others
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully in diverse cultural contexts, with knowledge of Māori Health priorities and communications methodologies for these audiences
  • A leader in reputation and relationship management with a focus on building and maintaining trust and confidence and positioning the organisation as a trusted authority
