Because it’s a new way of working, you need to be up for solving problems and holding true to principles to ensure we can navigate our way through the unforeseen, establishing consistency and processes as we deliver the portfolio.This is a new role with the amazing benefit of being able to establish ways of working, create new processes and develop and grow your own team with 2-3 direct reports. You’ll bring your ideas and experience and be given the opportunity to flourish within National Grid.You will be working with our Regulatory partners and project development and delivery teams, each of which is responsible for delivering capital projects of between £100m and many £bns in value. As the Regulatory Reporting Governance and Assurance manager you will be responsible for ensuring Strategic Infrastructure complies with its regulatory duties in reporting to Ofgem, including securing appropriate governance and assurance. You will also coordinate internal regulatory reporting for the business unit, ensuring that regulatory activity and commitments are tracked and completed, highlighting recurring issues and risks.You will be part of a close-knit regulatory team who work flexibly, coming together regularly to share knowledge and support each other. We primarily use our Warwick and London offices, and continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We currently work at least 1 day per week in an office, dependent on personal and business needs. As projects move on-site you may benefit from seeing delivery on the ground as you continue to have close relations with the delivery teams. Our team is geographically spread from Leeds to Devon, Ofgem is located in London and Glasgow and our projects are largely east coast and west coast, so we truly welcome applicants based across the UK.About youWhat we do isn’t just important – it’s essential.   • Ambition and drive to develop and create a new role and team, establishing a strong reporting capability which accurately demonstrates project delivery whilst providing the business with confidence and assurance.
  • A collaborative personality and intuitive leadership skills, you will be able to quickly build effective partnerships with others around the business and a strong team culture within a matrixed organisation. With the ability to influence senior stakeholders, gain credibility quickly, inspire trust and confidence, you will have experience of delivering through virtual teams at all levels of the organisation (including teams you don’t lead).
  • Excellent communication skills, with a clear and structured manner and able to articulate complex issues clearly and concisely. You will be results orientated, consistently managing timely delivery in a challenging environment whilst dealing with change and ambiguity.
  • A strong understanding of business processes and systems used to create, govern and assure annual reporting packs, including for capital projects (need, options, scope, cost), operational expenditure, incentives, finances and asset data. Project management skills, understanding of regulatory risk management, and excellence in tactical implementation are key.
  • Knowledge of applicable data, financial and regulatory (or similar compliance) assurance frameworks. In addition, you will have proven analytical and problem-solving skills, underpinned by strong numeracy and data structure skills and a track record of attention to detail.
  • Experience of working with and managing consultancy support, e.g. for third party assurance.

A driving license would be beneficial but not essential.What you’ll doYou will be accountable for regulatory reporting for the Strategic Infrastructure business unit within National Grid Electricity Transmission, ensuring appropriate governance and assurance of all regulatory submissions and reported information. This includes regular and ad-hoc regulatory reporting to Ofgem and internal stakeholders.You’ll work collaboratively with a wide range of people and teams including the regulatory technical lead, regulatory business partners, project delivery and PMO teams, risk and assurance teams and other regulation teams in National Grid, developing efficient and effective ways of working, whilst clearly communicating and delivering the benefits of good governance.As a leader and manager creating this new capability, you’ll design, develop and lead a small team of 2-3 regulatory analysts/ managers, as well as managing consultancy support where appropriate. This may include piloting new approaches such as procuring independent technical assurance of regulatory submissions.What you’ll getA competitive starting salary between £58,000 – £80,000 dependent on capability.As well as your base salary, you will receive:
