Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New ZealandersAbout the RoleWe have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Northern regional team as a Manager, Planning, Policy and Performance.This is a key management and leadership role in the regional Northern regional service.The primary purpose of the role is to lead and deliver regional strategic and business planning, health in all policies approaches, including policy submissions, and performance reporting for the regional service.Travel throughout the region may be required.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people’s health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.About youYou are experienced in planning, policy and performance management, and have proven skills in leading service and quality improvement. You are experienced in applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options, and communicating persuasively through written and oral communication. You have machinery of government experience and are able to identify business/project requirements, develop and contribute to strategies and plans, and prioritise the work of a team. Essential requirements include:
- A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification
- Experience in implementing Te Tiriti Waitangi in action
- 3+ years’ experience in health planning, policy development and performance reporting
- Experience in matrix and multidisciplinary working models
- Experience in leading change, innovation and service and quality improvement initiatives
- Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders
- Clean New Zealand Drivers’ Licence
- Willingness to travel as required
- Experience in applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options and the machinery of government
- Able to demonstrate mature communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and present effectively, and to develop, unify and maintain strong internal and external relationships essential for achieving sustainable outcomes
- Proven supervision, mentoring and coaching skills
- Demonstratable understanding and experience working in partnership with Pacific communities
