Reporting directly to the Finance Director, your role will manage a team therefore strong leadership and people management skills are a must for this position. The role will manage the financial reporting process at Deputy, along with overseeing financial operations such as accounts payable and billings.We’re looking for someone who thrives working in a dynamic environment, enjoys learning new things and working across many different areas. The ideal candidate is a fast learner, CA or CPA qualified and preferably from an audit or big 4 background, with knowledge of controls and best practice processes. The ideal candidate will bring fresh ideas and generate value by recommending improvements to existing processes from prior experience. This role will require experience in transforming a business as it scales and grows, ideally having had some experience in a fast growth or SaaS company (or both).The role requires strong communication skills and a ‘can-do’ attitude to question how processes can be improved and then formulating a plan to action this. To succeed in this role, the candidate needs to be highly organised with the ability to handle multiple deadlines and have the ability to pivot quickly to juggle various moving pieces.Responsibilities

  • Strong technical experience with the ability to take ownership of financial reporting and finance operations, working independently to deliver outcomes with minimal supervision
  • Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial statements, reconciliations, and delivering high quality analysis and reporting against budget
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing financial operations, including billings, customer collections, and the accounts payable function.
  • Leading and driving the development and implementation of best practice processes in our finance function, tailored for a high growth SaaS environment
  • Lead external audit processes, ensuring compliance with financial reporting requirements and processes
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining accounting policies, including staying up to date with new international and local GAAP technical accounting standards and the applicability to Deputy.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to provide insights and support strategic decision-making
  • ​​Proven track record of successful people management, including leading, mentoring, and developing teams. A minimum of 2+ years of direct management experience is preferred, with a demonstrated ability in fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Experience in performance management, including setting goals, providing feedback, and conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Experience with SOX or other similar control frameworks a bonus

Skills & Experience

  • 6+ years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 3+ years PQE (CA or CPA Qualified)
  • A relevant Tertiary qualification in Finance/Commerce or similar
  • Experience working in a fast moving environment or global company preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience, Netsuite experience is preferred
  • Big 4 Audit background highly desirable
