- Oversee the daily calibration activities to ensure equipment is calibrated accurately and in accordance with industry standards.
- Develop and implement procedures for calibration activities to maintain consistency, efficiency, and quality.
- Ensure all calibration work is performed to meet both client specifications and legal requirements.
- Supervise and manage calibration staff, ensuring their activities align with established safety and quality guidelines.
- Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Manage a team of calibration technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance reviews.
- Allocate resources effectively to ensure timely and efficient calibration services for all projects.
- Ensure that all team members are trained and up to date with the latest industry trends, calibration techniques, and safety protocols.
- Quality Assurance & Control:
- Monitor calibration processes to ensure they meet high-quality standards and industry regulations.
- Implement quality control measures to verify the accuracy of calibrated equipment and instruments.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of calibration records to ensure compliance with ISO, industry standards, and internal policies.
- Client Liaison & Relationship Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding calibration services, ensuring clear communication about timelines, quality standards, and technical specifications.
- Handle any client concerns or issues related to calibration, providing solutions and maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.
- Develop long-term relationships with clients to understand their calibration needs and ensure repeat business.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all calibration activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
- Promote a culture of safety by conducting safety audits, assessments, and training for the calibration team.
- Monitor and evaluate risk management strategies in calibration activities to ensure the safety of the team and the equipment.
- Training & Development:
- Organize and lead training sessions for calibration staff on calibration procedures, new technologies, and safety practices.
- Identify skill gaps and provide development opportunities to enhance the team’s competencies.
- Encourage continuous learning and professional development within the calibration department.
- Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving calibration processes, ensuring they are cost-effective and reduce downtime.
- Implement process improvements to enhance the turnaround time for calibration services and increase overall efficiency.
- Use data-driven approaches to monitor calibration performance and take corrective actions as necessary.
- Calibration Equipment Management:
- Ensure calibration equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and repaired when necessary to guarantee reliable performance.
- Oversee the inventory management of calibration tools and equipment, ensuring their availability and readiness.
- Coordinate the purchase of new equipment or software to support the department’s operational needs.
- Budget & Resource Management:
- Prepare and manage the calibration department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Ensure that the department operates within the allocated budget, identifying and implementing cost-saving measures where possible.
- Provide regular financial reports to senior management on calibration expenses and budget status.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of all calibration services performed, including certificates, reports, and documentation.
- Generate and submit reports to senior management on calibration activities, performance metrics, and any challenges encountered.
- Ensure that all documentation complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or a related technical field.
- LEAH (Lifting Equipment and Handling) certification is mandatory.
- Certification in Calibration or QA/QC management is a plus.
- Experience:
- 7 to 10 years of experience in calibration operations, particularly within industries such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power Generation, or similar.
- Proven experience in managing calibration teams and overseeing calibration processes in line with international standards.
- Hands-on experience with calibration of complex instrumentation and control systems.
- In-depth understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements for calibration, including ISO standards.
- Technical Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of calibration processes, tools, and technologies.
- Strong understanding of calibration procedures for various types of equipment (mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation).
- Proficient with calibration management software and other operational tools.
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment issues and improve calibration processes.
- Management & Leadership Skills:
- Strong leadership capabilities to manage a team of calibration professionals.
- Excellent resource allocation, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
