Job description: Legal Assistant – Workplace Relations, Employment & Safety.We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Workplace Relations, Employment & Safety Division in Melbourne.Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain files – file management of substantial amounts of documents.
  • Document Preparation – transcription of digital dictation and general typing, including preparation of correspondence, court documents, and advice. Working with templates, precedents, and mail merge documents.
  • Email and calendar management.
  • Client Support – answering client queries where appropriate, managing client expectations around communications.
  • Court Filing – filing documents utilising the court platforms.
  • Team Support – assist other support staff with overflow work.
  • Billing – entering daily timesheets if required, preparing detailed bills in accordance with firm protocols and deadlines.
  • Coordinate and schedule Practice Group Meetings for Legal Practitioners and Legal Support staff.
  • Assist the Practice Group Leader to review and coordinate coverage for Legal Practitioner and Legal Support staff leave.
  • Ensure the successful onboarding of new staff.
  • Coordinate general enquiries.
  • Book and arrange travel arrangements for the Practice Group.
  • Manage Practice Group events, including but not limited to, training, team meetings, social events, team and client events, team connection days, team leave, and hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
  • Key point of contact for Business Services to liaise with the Practice Group. This includes managing queries from a range of departments including, but not limited to, Finance, Business Development, IT, Risk, Legal and Strategics Operations and People & Culture.
