As we continue to expand, we are committed to delivering excellence and innovation while fostering a culture of collaboration and growth.Job Summary:The Lean Manufacturing Engineer will act as a liaison between all departments but principally between Manufacturing, Engineering and Supply Chain and will develop knowledge of all Suretank products such as Modular units, ISO tanks, Offshore Tanks and Cryogenic Units. Initially the key responsibility will be to develop lean manufacturing techniques, workplace organisation to ensure labour is utilised with maximum efficiency while meeting customer demands and delivery expectations. They will also undertake special projects and performs related duties as assigned.We are seeking a Lean Manufacturing Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to optimize production processes and drive continuous improvement in our steel fabrication plant. The ideal candidate will apply Lean principles, and process improvement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lean manufacturing strategies to optimise processes and reduce waste and improve overall efficiency.
  • Provide engineering leadership/ support for the manufacture of products to world-class standards ensuring that products are built in the safest and most cost effective and efficient manner.
  • Co-ordinate and accelerate the implementation of new engineering changes – both product and process – into the plant and implement technology advances into the manufacturing processes for existing products, including identifying Automation potential within the value streams.
  • Interface / engage with supply management, production, quality, supply chain and the design engineering team to ensure that the manufacturing engineering function is supporting the development of new and world class products.
  • Be proficient in Design for manufacturing, Rapid proto-typing, Process simulation line balancing and project management.
  • Have knowledge in problem solving techniques using the 9 Step Problem, Solving A3 technique to resolve daily Takt and Quality issues.
  • Have a proven track record in driving continuous improvement and a passion for new technologies / automation / process control.
  • Act as a resource, providing timely long term engineering solutions, while soliciting the ideas of others and using all available resources in the process.
  • Release the hidden talent of manufacturing employees through engagement and the delegation of ownership.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (metal fabrication).
  • Evaluate existing processes and workflows to identify areas that would benefit from changes and improvements.
  • Career focused with a desire to advance skills & education.
  • Excellent Communication Skills, ability to fluently communicate (read, write, and speak) in the English language.

Qualification Guidelines:Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (level 8) Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in lean manufacturing, preferably in a steel manufacturing environment.
  • Good knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Practices
  • Some experience as Manufacturing Engineering with emphasis on manufacturing practices.
  • Understanding of the design and development of products in compliance with ISO Standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD software and ERP systems is a plus.
