Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the incumbent provides the liaison between the faculties/services and IT. Aligns the delivery of solutions, capabilities and other project work with the operational and strategic goals and priorities of the University. Acts as the PPM and the point of contact for the institution’s leadership and senior stakeholders, and advocates for the University’s interests and objectives, while serving as a channel of engagement and communications from IT to the respective faculty/service. Provides expertise to stakeholders towards identifying and formulating initiatives, proposals, and business cases to achieve their objectives. Ensures alignment with the University strategy by creating awareness and understanding of current and future technological capabilities. Develops and maintains project management standards and processes for the University, ensures integration with enterprise architecture, security, and procurement systems and mentors, supports and shares project and portfolio management knowledge and expertise with the IT project managers.In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Establish and maintain relationships with faculty/service’ leadership teams, key executives, and other stakeholders. Engage with these leaders to conduct regular reviews to analyze needs, and to validate, assess and adjust IT project plans. Facilitate the efforts of faculty/service business leaders to identify and establish the most effective initiatives and projects to align with their priorities, goals and objectives, and leverage all opportunities for sharing resources towards common objectives across faculty/services.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination among portfolio stakeholders to maximize portfolio performance. Oversee development and maintenance of effective communications and reporting related to the projects of the faculty/services for the purpose of highlighting the impacts of success and managing ongoing expectations and helps identify and communicate interdependencies across faculties and services.
• Alert faculty/service leadership to opportunities for applying technology developments to the challenges arising from increasing digitalization in its area.
• Participate in development and ongoing maintenance of projects and portfolio collateral, materials, documentation, workshops, and other tools. This will ensure consistency in faculty/service engagement and interaction with IT.
• Provides oversight and guidance to all IT project managers and reviews project management deliverables. Lead and influence project owners and their aggregated impact on overall functional prioritization and execution. Collaborate with the project managers (applications managers) and project teams by determining scope, deliverables, objectives, and project plans and ensuring alignment with the University priorities and strategic direction.

What you will bring:

• Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems, or in a related field. PMP designation would be an asset.
• Six or more years of experience in managing IT projects across the full project life cycle in a complex organization.
• Demonstrated experience in managing business relationships and engaging executives in technology, faculties and services and other stakeholders.
• Effective influencing and negotiation experience and skills in an environment with fierce competition for resources among faculty/services.
• Expertise in the development and application of project and portfolio management methods and techniques.
• Excellent leadership to influence and provide direction, guidance and feedback to all project managers and application managers, as well as faculties and services as it pertains to project management approaches and deliverables.
• Strong business acumen, technical leadership, and familiarity with industry trends and innovation.
• Excellent analytical, collaboration and facilitation skills.
• Familiarity with the use of reporting tools to monitor activities and analyze project performance.
• Familiarity with one or more project/program management methodologies, ideally across a range of projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to capture and explain goals and objectives to business for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written).
