Job description: Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Resource to manage VMware Tanzu Environment and take ownership of the administration, troubleshooting, optimization, and ongoing management of our VMware Tanzu environment. As an L3 resource, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our Tanzu Kubernetes clusters and related Tanzu components across various cloud and on-premise environments. This role requires a deep understanding of containerized applications, Kubernetes, cloud-native technologies, and complex troubleshooting across distributed systems.Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing Kubernetes-based environments, including at least 3 years with VMware Tanzu.
- Deep expertise in troubleshooting and managing distributed systems, particularly in a containerized and cloud-native architecture.
- Experience with advanced troubleshooting and performance optimization techniques in Tanzu or Kubernetes environments.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide technical assistance during troubleshooting specific to VMware Tanzu
- Documentation of recommended practices and identified risks in the VMware Tanzu environment
- Assist in troubleshooting during VMware Tanzu software upgrades and migrations
- Manage Kubernetes clusters lifecycle activities as listed below:
- Entire Upgrade and updates of the VMware platform\
- Assist in Patch upgrades as per VMware Advisory during VMware Tanzu Platform Security vulnerabilities
- Minor upgrade or patching of existing Tanzu cluster
- Assist in any scale up or scale down activity required
- Involvement in DR process if any limited to VMware Tanzu platform
- Backup and restoration of Tanzu clusters
- Assist in Integration of Tanzu clusters with vROPS for monitoring and reporting
- Monitor system events to work towards health, maximum system availability, and service quality using log insight.
- Manage ingress controller Avi
- Assist in Upgrades and updates for AVI.
- Maintain documentation regarding configurations, operations, and
troubleshooting procedures * Participate in the definition of standards, guidelines, and best practices
- Ensure the platform is up to date according to the VMware’s recommended practices
- Supporting the application team for adoption in upcoming Microservices applications
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar).
- Familiarity with Istio service meshes.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Tanzu Observability, ELK Stack).
- Strong knowledge of networking, load balancing, and storage in Kubernetes/Tanzu environments.
- Certifications such as VMware Tanzu Certified Professional, Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
Requirements :Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing Kubernetes-based environments, including at least 3 years with VMware Tanzu.
- Proven experience in managing Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG), Tanzu Application Service (TAS), Tanzu Mission Control (TMC), or related Tanzu components.
- Deep expertise in troubleshooting and managing distributed systems, particularly in a containerized and cloud-native architecture.
- Experience with advanced troubleshooting and performance optimization techniques in Tanzu or Kubernetes environments.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Kubernetes architecture, administration, and management.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies (e.g., Helm, Istio, Fluentd).
- Proficient in containerization technologies, including Docker and container orchestration using Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of networking, load balancing, and storage in Kubernetes/Tanzu environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Tanzu Observability, ELK Stack).
- Knowledge of security best practices, including RBAC, IAM, network policies, and encryption.
Problem-Solving Skills:
- Proven ability to perform root cause analysis on complex, high-impact issues.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in distributed systems and cloud-native technologies.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders, document findings, and create clear procedures.
- Ability to lead technical discussions and provide expert advice to other teams.
Preferred:
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar).
- Familiarity with service meshes like Istio or Linkerd.
- Expertise in infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
- Certifications such as VMware Tanzu Certified Professional, Kubernetes
- Administrator (CKA), or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
- Familiarity with networking solutions such as Calico, Flannel, or Weave in Kubernetes environments.
- Multi-cloud experience with Tanzu in public cloud environments like AWS or Azure.
