Te Puni Kōkiri is the government’s principal policy advisor on Māori wellbeing and development. We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for, and with Māori. This includes our mandate to promote Māori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles.Our Regions puni is looking for a Kaitohutohu, Haumitanga | Advisor, Investments. This role assesses applications for funding from kaitono, and monitors and audits approved contracts.Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunityA relationship builder, the Advisor, as part of a small team liaises with kaitono (applicants) and our regional kaimahi to help deliver effective investments across a portfolio of investment funds. These investments support Māori communities to achieve their aspirations. You will:

• Assist with the investment delivery process for a range of applications for funding, each with varying levels of complexity. Includes proposal assessments, approval channels, agreement development, and contract management
• Ensure due diligence is completed at each stage of the process
• Help monitor and audit the impact of investments and write quarterly and monthly reports
• Assist with writing responses to requests for information, including Official Information Act and Ministerial Statements of Satisfactory Progress.

Please note, this is not a role that involves investing in financial markets.The likely appointment range is $76,022 to $84,468 based on skills and experience. • Have good critical and numerical reasoning, writing and data analysis skills
• Can manage multiple pieces of work,
• Enjoy being led through guidance, not micro-managed, and are self-starters
• Bring some understanding of risk assessment with the ability to read and understand financial statements while seeing the whole picture of a proposal for investment
• Understand the environment we work in and will maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgement in their mahi
• Are comfortable working in an environment where tikanga is observed and have confidence to kōrero with a range of Māori organisations, businesses and communities.
