At the United Nations Youth Association Denmark (UNYA DK), our mission is to inspire and mobilize youth across Denmark to take action on issues related to peace, justice, and sustainable development in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).We are looking for a proactive and engaged individual to join our National Board and Chairmanship team as the National Treasurer where you will play a vital role in shaping the financial future of our organization. The candidate should be between the ages of 18 and 35. Because we are a youth-led organization, we believe in development opportunities for young people. Therefore, an ideal candidate must exhibit an aspiration to commit and be open towards learning and progress, presenting relevant skills in relation to the position, where practical experience is not the primary factor.Key ResponsibilitiesAs National Treasurer, you will be entrusted with managing the financial health of UNYA DK. Your responsibilities will include: * Custodian of Funds: Acting as the primary custodian of the UNYA DK’s funds, working in close liaison with the UNA (United Nations Association) to ensure proper financial management and reporting.

• Payment Authorization: Authorizing payments on behalf of the organization with your signature, ensuring that all transactions are legitimate and in line with UNYA DK’s financial policies.
• Financial Reporting: Being responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date account books for all treasury operations, as well as issuing regular reports on the organization’s financial status.
• Budgeting: Preparing detailed budget accounts, balance sheets, and annual budget projects (ordinary and extraordinary), which will be submitted to both the Board and the General Assembly for approval.
• Coordination: Regularly liaising with the Head of Finance at each of UNYA DK’s Branches to ensure alignment and smooth communication across the organization’s various financial operations.
• Fundraising: Applying for funding on behalf of the organization, corresponding with the donors during the execution of projects, including final reporting on spending upon completion.
• Advisory Role: You will attend board meetings and Chairmanship meetings and provide financial insights to help shape key organizational decisions.

What We’re Looking ForWe are looking for a candidate who is not only skilled in financial management but also committed to the values and mission of UNYA DK. The National Treasurer will be a proactive and engaged leader who can collaborate effectively with a diverse team. Key qualities and qualifications include:

• Fundamental Understanding of Financial Operations: performing simple transactional operations through a bank account; preparation of current and forecast budgets featuring funds and spending; keeping track of and reporting about income and expenses.
• Attention to Detail: A thorough approach to financial record-keeping, with the ability to maintain accurate accounts and ensure financial integrity.
• Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information in a clear and accessible manner to non-financial stakeholders, including the General Assembly and Board of Directors as well as communicate with financial stakeholders and our donors in a sound and professional manner.
• Collaborative Spirit: A team player who is able to work closely with the Board to align financial strategy with the organization’s overall goals.
• Proactive Leadership: A self-starter who can anticipate challenges and take proactive steps to ensure the organization’s financial health, sustainability, and compliance.
• Commitment to Transparency and Accountability: A person of integrity who values transparency and is dedicated to ensuring that UNYA DK’s financial affairs are managed with the utmost accountability.
• Active Participation: Manage the treasury e-mail account and stay up to date on questions related to finance and ensure they are taken care of in a timely manner. The role entails flexibility, but the candidate would ideally be able to commit to a weekly check-up on the work and be responsive to incoming requests.

It could be an advantage if you have:

• Experience in / understanding of financial management and/or accounting.
