Job description: Job Category: Information TechnologyJob Description:Downer is seeking an experienced IT Vendor Manager to join the Downer Digital team, reporting to the Group GM Governance, Risk & Compliance, Vendor Management. This role is pivotal in leading the Vendor Management Office and implementing a strategic approach to IT vendor management. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders including Group Procurement, Group Finance, Group Legal, and IT teams to drive vendor performance, mitigate risk, ensure contractual compliance, and deliver value across the vendor lifecycle.You will play a critical role in managing key IT vendor relationships, overseeing governance and reporting processes, and embedding vendor risk management aligned to ISO27001 standards. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and negotiator, with deep experience in managing complex vendor arrangements, contract negotiations, performance evaluations, and operational governance. If you’re passionate about driving commercial outcomes and enabling IT transformation through effective vendor partnerships-this role is for you.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of Downer Digital’s Vendor Management Strategy in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Oversee strategic vendor segmentation, governance structures, reporting, and relationship management.
  • Establish and manage key vendor accounts, including software, hardware, cloud, and managed service providers.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, SLAs, and commercial agreements in collaboration with Group Procurement.
  • Drive performance reviews, vendor scorecards, and continuous improvement across IT vendors.
  • Operationalise the vendor risk management framework across financial, performance, and third-party risks, aligned with ISO27001.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Legal, Finance, and IT to ensure contract compliance and value delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation to support vendor governance.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in IT vendor management and procurement

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business Administration, or related field; certifications such as ITIL or Certified Vendor Manager desirable.
  • 5+ years’ experience in IT vendor management or procurement within a complex corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing vendor contracts, negotiations, and lifecycle activities.
  • Strong understanding of vendor governance, reporting, performance management, and risk assurance programs.
  • Ability to analyse data, extract insights, and influence strategic decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Familiarity with IT security, compliance frameworks, and experience with risk assessments.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to balance competing priorities.
