About the Role: This Work Placement Experience Programme (WPEP) position is ideal for someone looking to gain practical experience in IT support and systems administration. Working alongside experienced professionals, the participant will develop essential skills in troubleshooting, maintenance, and user support within a real-world environment. What You Will Learn: Setting up and configuring computers, printers, and mobile devices Troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues Installing updates and maintaining IT systems Assisting end users with basic tech support and guidance Documenting support requests and maintaining logs Exposure to networking fundamentals, cybersecurity basics, and system backups Key duties: Assist in setting up and maintaining desktop and laptop hardware Provide first-line IT support to staff and/or clients Help monitor systems for issues and escalate when necessary Maintain equipment logs and update documentation Participate in IT audits and inventory checks Support the IT team with ad hoc tasks and project work Additional Information: This is a learning-focused placement with structured support Participant must be registered with Intreo and eligible for WPEP IT equipment and training will be provided where necessary This placement provides valuable experience and practical knowledge to support a future career in IT, technical support, or systems administration.Role Description The participant will receive both formal and informal training in a variety of IT-related skills essential to the daily operations of a real estate office. Training will include setting up, configuring, and maintaining desktop and laptop computers, installing and updating software (including productivity and real estate industry applications), and troubleshooting common hardware and software issues. They will gain hands-on experience in basic network administration, including setting up Wi-Fi connections, assisting with router configurations, and connecting office devices such as printers and scanners to the network. The participant will also be trained in user support, providing assistance to staff for password management, email setup, and basic system navigation. Training will cover best practices for system updates, cybersecurity basics (such as identifying phishing attempts and ensuring safe data handling), and routine data backup procedures. The participant will document support activities and maintain an inventory of IT equipment, building organizational skills critical for IT management. Under supervision, the participant may also assist with evaluating current office IT systems and recommending upgrades or improvements to enhance productivity and security. They will develop troubleshooting techniques, communication skills for supporting non-technical users, and an understanding of how IT supports overall business operations. Overall, the participant will build foundational skills in IT support, technical problem-solving, and customer service within a professional office environment.
