The International Advancement Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage international alumni, donors and partners to support UNSW’s mission and goals.This role will involve relationship-building, collaboration with various stakeholders, and occasional travel to enhance the University’s global presence and fundraising and engagement efforts. Critical to the role will be the ability to build positive partnerships and work closely with internal stakeholders, such as Future Student Recruitment, Global Affairs, faculties to deliver a comprehensive international advancement strategy.The International Advancement Manager reports to the Director, Alumni Experience and has no direct reports.Responsibilities Summary:

  • Develop and implement an annual schedule of programs and events and socialise with key internal stakeholders, to ensure activities are coordinated and opportunities leveraged through a streamlined and consistent approach.
  • Action high-quality international alumni engagement events and projects in priority regions, as required, that inspire alumni and donors to deepen their involvement.
  • Act as a key point of contact and expert on international advancement, advocating for the needs and expectations of this segment in all international alumni and donor engagement activities.
  • Set clear guidelines and ensure best practice is upheld with internal stakeholders when engaging with alumni and donors overseas.
  • Manage a portfolio of international alumni and volunteers, acting as relationship manager and key point of contact where required.
  • Independently prepare briefings, reports, high-level confidential presentations, discussion papers and general responses to issues arising and ensure effective communication at all levels.
  • Work closely with the Director, Alumni Experience to manage the international alumni budget and ensure activities are strategically aligned.
  • Build and manage trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, being responsible for their interactions with UNSW, with minimal supervision.
  • Represent the Division of Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement in internal and external meetings, providing feedback and undertaking actions as appropriate and to a high standard.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with mid to senior level internal and external stakeholders.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and substantial international experience, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven experience in the research, development, delivery and evaluation of strategic engagement programs, initiatives, events and projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of alumni engagement and fundraising in tertiary education.
  • Demonstrated experience of managing relationships in a global environment.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and the proven ability to engage, influence and negotiate with stakeholders to garner support and commitment for projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute strategically to the work of the team and to innovate in the delivery of programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Ability to travel, as required, domestically and internationally for meetings and events.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff if required.
