Job description: Job Title: HR Performance and Reporting LeadSalary: The starting salary is £57,301, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.The salary is broken down as £54,460 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £66,356. To help HR deliver its reform we are recruiting for a Performance and Reporting Lead. This key role will manage our performance, deliver our business plan, and own the strategic narrative on all the improvements we are making for our people. This role lies at the heart of our HR Directorate and will play a major part in managing our operations.To succeed in this role, you will need to be experienced in business planning, and have a good understanding of either portfolio, programme, or project management techniques. You will also need to be comfortable with managing data and display an analytical approach to your work. Knowledge and experience of the policing environment would be useful, but not essential. More important are your written communication skills, which you will use to produce a variety of products on behalf of the HR Director. These will include formal papers for management board and senior operational leaders, a variety of policy papers and briefing documents. You will have to articulate complex issues concisely, developing a logical argument and providing choices that are backed up with sound reasoning and evidence.You will share our values of integrity; courage; accountability; respect and empathy, bringing them to life in how you work and using our principles to shape your decisions.Why join us? You will also benefit from excellent career and professional development.Key responsibilitiesOn a day-to-day basis you will have four primary areas of responsibility:

  • Manage and assure the performance of the HR Directorate against all corporate metrics, KPIs, SLAs, and priority activities. Providing clarity on progress, risk, and impact – allowing informed decision making.
  • Produce strategic papers on behalf of HR Directors – including high level ministerial letters, ExCo papers, policy papers, and briefing products.
  • Produce the annual HR business plan and manage contributing HR elements to corporate business plans, strategies and commitments.
  • Manage the reporting of objectives, commitments and targets across the year – identifying and mitigating risks, managing dependencies and proactively managing issues.

Scope for impactYou will be responsible for managing and delivering a broad portfolio of activity channelled through the HR Directors and wider HR Senior Leadership Team. You will produce monthly returns and reports to a variety of corporate boards and your work will be highly visible to senior operational leaders, directors and management board. You will also interact with a variety of external stakeholders including Ministers, the Deputy Mayor, and London Policing Board.   • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable development and management of strategic briefing and governance papers.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with senior colleagues and peers.
  • Knowledge and experience of HR processes, services and operations
  • Strong data acumen, confidence in using, analysing and manipulating data, interpreting information to draw key insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Experience of portfolio, programme or project management – specialising in either delivery or reporting.
