Job description: Position ScopeReporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the Reliability Engineer will support NACG’s heavy equipment fleet of haul trucks, shovels, dozers and support equipment. The Reliability Engineer will support NACG’s field maintenance crews by identifying and implementing maintenance improvements, monitoring the production statuses of primary fleets while reacting to any “bad-actors” and functioning as a general technical resource for maintenance personnel. The individual will work closely with NACG’s off-site reliability department, located in Acheson. They will complete the “boots-on-the-ground” portion of reliability projects. This will include heavy equipment failure analysis and root cause analysis, to the extent that field work allows. The goal of the position is to increase NACG’s fleet uptime by applying critical, logical thought to the equipment and maintenance at a site level.Here at NACG we want to be a part of the next step in your employment journey and push your future forward. - Track, trend and report on “bad actor” units.
- Take part in complex unit issue troubleshooting.
- Prepare recent repair history reports to aid in complex unit troubleshooting
- Preform initial information gather and as much of a failure analysis on site as possible for certain failures.
- Identify opportunities for maintenance improvement, develop solutions with necessary stakeholders and implement resolving changes
- Assist site maintenance planners and schedulers.
- Work with vendor technical experts to troubleshoot and resolve warranty issues on site.
- Co-ordinate with long-range planning department to implement the major component replacement forecast.
- Act as a technical expert resource for onsite personnel.
- Coordinate with NACG Reliability department leads in Acheson to implement corporately driven reliability projects and maintenance improvements.
- Assist sites with equipment maintenance planning. Other related duties/projects as assigned.
QualificationsWhat Makes You the ONE
- 1 – 2 years of related work experience in a heavy equipment environment specializing in Mining Equipment.
- Experience in failure analysis is considered an asset.
- Shop or field mobile equipment maintenance experience is considered an asset.
- Analyzing oil sample reports for heavy equipment.
- Mechanical Engineering degree
- Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer with APEGA.
- Capable of both strategic and tactical thinking with a drive to meet quality, cost and schedule targets.
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures. Ability to make independent analysis, interpretations and conclusions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Detailed working knowledge of planning tools (JD Edwards, MS Office Package, Minestar etc.).
- Able to build effective relationships with internal customers and external vendors to promote reliability work stream and maintain or exceed the industry standards.
- Ability to independently identify, prioritize and execute projects.
