Job description: Job DescriptionReporting to the Account Director and focusing on a single large strategic client, the role holder will provide H&S guidance and support to the site. The role holder will be part of a client focused team at leadership level.Duties and Responsibilities as listed below but not limited to:Develop Safety Protocols:Develop and implement health and safety plans, enforcing policies, and evaluating practices to ensure compliance. Based on the identified risks, develop, implement, and maintain safety protocols and procedures to mitigate hazards identified on site.

  • Create a positive approach to accident prevention and protection of the environment and initiate and maintain positive measures to raise safety, health and environmental standards as well as awareness.
  • Assist with inspections of site operations and premises to determine whether the regulations and requirements is being complied with and whether the highest standards of safety, health and environmental protection, which is reasonably practicable to attain, are being achieved.
  • Support management and department leads in ensuring a proactive and systematic approach to managing health and safety.
  • Make recommendations on health and safety and request changes to practices on site through the department managers.
  • Provide cross cover within the health and safety function as required.
  • Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
  • Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on premises or at project site locations.
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to identify strategies and prioritise actions for managing risks and driving health and safety improvements in conjunction with the management team,
  • Takes part in accident / incident investigation.
  • Conducts analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans.
  • Provides technical support to senior management on any safety related subjects.
  • Assist management teams to prepare and review risk assessments / method statements for given work activities.
  • Keep detailed records of all safety-related activities, including training sessions, incident reports, inspections, and equipment maintenance logs.
  • Ensure all hazards are continually addressed and systems updated accordingly.
  • Communicate the Health and Safety requirements to managers on sites.
  • Assists the Commercial, Engineering and Operations Department in their dealings with Clients in all issues concerned with Health and Safety at work.
  • Report on all health and safety awareness, issues, and statistic.
  • Familiarize yourself with the services provided across the departments for both knowledge and understanding.
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
  • Implement site manage a site-based safety training schedule.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with Irish, European Safety Regulations & Client requirements.
  • Monitors the effective implementation of appropriate safety and environmental system procedures and provide for their updating in line with changes in legislation and company directives.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation, regulations and ensure that when and were required these amendments are applied and communicated.
  • Ensure all accidents / incidents are registered and logged through the required company and client portals will all documentation uploaded accordingly.

Meetings and Communication

  • Attend and represent the company in the required health and safety meetings.
  • Engage with client safety representative to ensure alignment to site-based safety requirements, policies, and processes.
  • Create and distribute safety communication topic in the form of “Toolbox Talks”.
  • Communicate safety topics raised and recommended by the clients.
  • Attend operational meeting when and if required and give input on health and safety applications where relevant.
  • Represent and engage in company safety forums and meetings.
  • Respond to all internal and external departments and client requirements in a timeously manner relating to emails, actions requirements and or reports etc.

Management:

  • Manage and co-ordinate your safety team across the site and departments ensuring understanding of their respective roles and how it needs to be executed.
  • Monitoring compliance to task requirements based on their respective roles and responsibilities.
  • Monitor compliance by putting key performance indicators in place to ensure company and client expectations are clear, measured and achieved.
  • Support, coach and development your team to ensure and uphold a good safety culture within the team and to continuously upskill the team to improve themselves.
  • Attend Bidvest Noonan Site Leadership Team Meeting and respond to requests for safety support, safety improvements and to escalate any safety priorities/help needed.

Essential Criteria:

  • Primary Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Health and Safety
  • Chartered membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) or at least working towards attaining this accreditation
  • Full Clean Driving Licence
  • Valid Visa to work in Ireland on a full-time basis
