Job description: ING’s Wholesale Bank is in growth mode, and we have a huge 2025 ahead of us. To support that growth, we are seeking a Head of Portfolio Management to be based in Sydney.This newly created position is a senior portfolio management role within the front office, leading a specialised lending team. As player-coach, you will carry primary responsibility for the ongoing management of a portfolio of corporate style loans, project finance and real estate loans, across varied sectors with an emphasis on credit monitoring, analytics and internal reporting.You will lead a team of portfolio management specialists and coordinate between sector specialists, offshore portfolio support teams and risk management. The team plays a critical role in the management of our watchlist and identifying opportunities for cross sell opportunities with colleagues in different product and sector teams.Ready to make an impact?What you’ll do

  • Actively manage all facets of the daily operations of the identified portfolio – such as analysing credit migration trends, idea generation for cross buy opportunities, credit risk management reviews, reviewing risk ratings
  • Credit monitoring through the review of all covenanted financial data and project information as well as compliance with all regular reporting activities in line with the bank’s policy and procedures
  • Oversee multiple PMs to ensure proper training and development to ensure the success of efforts within their remit
  • Interface with relationship managers and sector specialists to ensure an active dialogue on credit trends, challenges and opportunities with individual borrowers
  • Monitor and identify market developments and proactively manage their potential impact on the portfolio
  • Coordinate with origination and Transaction Management teams in order to ensure timely and accurate response to internal and external regulatory controls and audits

What we’re looking for

  • 8+ years of relevant experience specifically with project finance loans
  • BA/BS in finance/economics/accounting/management/engineering (or similar); CFA a plus
  • Strong financial and credit analysis capabilities as well as modelling capabilities
  • Ability to take internal credit approval processes from start to finish
  • Committed and dedicated individual who will continuously improve the way the team works
  • Collaborative and able to work effectively across functions and regions
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
