Investing in a strong global asset network is a crucial component of our strategy.As member of the SM Development Services & Small/Midscale OPS Leadership Team in Visp, Switzerland | Lonza, the Head of Manufacturing is responsible for running the Small-/Midscale facilities and the facilities for Highly Potent Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients producing lifesaving medicine for the patients of our customers in both clinical and commercial areas. Besides leading existing manufacturing and new product introduction, this role will have responsibility for CAPEX growth projects in the facilities and to champion an innovation culture within the function. This role will also ensure and manage effective interfaces between Manufacturing, Plant Engineering, EHS, QA and QC.This is a great opportunity to become a part of a fast-growing site in a beautiful corner of the world.Key responsibilities:Leading the Small-/Midscale production unit and giving leadership to multi-disciplinary teams of senior production leaders, managers, supervisors and operators. Full responsibility for all aspects of people management such as qualification, development, mentoring, hiring, remuneration and performance topics.Building-up and sustaining a successful, high performing team. Maintaining a culture of empowerment and innovation, trust and change readiness.Working as Operations lead on capital investment projects.Ownership and main driver for the operational set-up and other factors influencing the manufacturing costs.Planning & supervision of production activities to ensure products are manufactured and delivered safely, timely, efficiently with the required quality.Responsible for developing programs that drive ongoing improvement to reduce cost and improve efficiency through Operational Excellence and innovation initiatives.Developing department goals and strategy and prioritisation with respect to company goals, vision and mission of Lonza.Responsible for budget preparation and ensuring delivery according to budget plan.Representing the facility during regulatory inspections and customer audits as Manufacturing HeadKey requirements:Master degree or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related fields.5-10 years of experience in a leading position within chemical manufacturing, strong GMP background will be an advantage.Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.Ability to inspire a large organization by articulating a vision in an exciting manner, develop leaders, translate strategies to actionable plans and targets in a multi-layered organization.Lean practitioner and Green /Black Belt Certification will be an advantage.Excellent communication skills and interaction with all kinds of internal and external interfaces.Proficiency in English and German is a mustEvery day, Lonza’s products and services have a positive impact on millions of people.
