Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Finance is a key leadership role, driving financial strategy, governance, IT, and operational excellence at OBNZ.
This role involves leading financial strategy, planning, and reporting while ensuring transparency across the organisation. Managing the Trust and Foundation’s financial health, the Head of Finance will drive better decision-making, providing clear financial insights to the Board and leadership team.This role will build financial literacy, ensuring that key stakeholders understand financial performance and strategy. It also involves managing complex revenue streams, balancing budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, the Head of Finance will oversee the transition to Xero, streamline financial reporting, and implement best practices for financial hygiene.If you’re a commercially savvy finance professional ready to make a meaningful impact to New Zealand, this is your chance to lead from the front.About you:
You will have extensive senior financial management experience and a deep understanding of financial reporting, analysis, and compliance. Beyond technical expertise, you have outstanding communication skills and a talent for making complex financial information accessible to non-financial stakeholders. You thrive in a mission-driven environment and are passionate about using your financial acumen to support an organisation making a difference.Your leadership style is collaborative and transparent, ensuring that financial management is not just a back-office function but a strategic enabler for the organisation. You understand the unique challenges of working in a smaller, purpose-driven organisation where adaptability and hands-on involvement are key.You will also ideally have:

• 10+ years’ commercial experience in a Finance role preparing financial statements and processing accounting transactions
• CA or other formal accounting qualification
• Proven experience in initiating, writing and presenting convincing business cases
• Comfortable working at Board level
• Good knowledge and expertise of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to establish and maintain efficient financial accounting and reporting systems
