About the role:
We are proud to have partnered with a Federal Government Organisation to source their Head of Collection Data and Digitisation. This is a permanent position and the successful applicant will be offered ongoing employment as an Australian Public Service Employee.The Head of Collection Data and Digitisation is responsible for leading the strategic direction and operational management of the business unit and oversees a multidisciplinary team, driving initiatives in digital preservation, digitisation, intellectual property management and the development of collection information systems and processes.The role is pivotal in advancing the Organisation’s goal of leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance the visibility and impact of the it’s collection and ensuring the long-term preservation of collection information and digital assets.Through creative collaboration with key business units, the Head of Collection Data and Digitisation also plays a key role in enabling the Organisation’s digital collection holdings to be dynamically presented, supporting lifelong engagement and contribution to the Organisation’s standing as a leader in cultural preservation and education.About you:
You’ll have extensive expertise in collection management, digital preservation and intellectual property rights (10+ years), with a deep understanding of industry standards, best practices and emerging trends in digital collection stewardship.Your experience in the GLAM sector and leveraging digital technologies and to enhance the visibility and impact of collections, including the use of innovative tools and platforms to help create dynamic experiences for the Organisation’s audiences is highly desired in this role.Skills required:

• Proven experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams, with a strong track record of driving innovation, collaboration and excellence in collection management and digital preservation.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing collection information and data management systems, such as digital asset management systems, trusted digital repositories and collection management systems.
• Demonstrated experience in ensuring the integrity, security and accessibility of museum collections through intellectual property management.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate on, develop and implement strategic initiatives that enhance understanding and use of Museum collections in innovative and dynamic ways.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively represent the Organisation in formal and informal contexts and to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• A degree in Museum Studies, Information Management, Digital Preservation or a related field, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
