Job description: The Head of Finance & Risk Operations is responsible for managing and overseeing the execution of financial and risk-related processes, facilitating timely financial, risk and regulatory reporting, ensuring, and maintaining data integrity reporting quality and driving operational efficiency. This role will evolve over time and initially involves building up the Finance & Risk Operations function and team, leading teams that support financial reporting, risk data management, and regulatory submissions.What would your role be?Operational Leadership

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of financial reporting, risk data processing, and regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in all operational outputs (e.g., financial reports, risk reports, and regulatory filings).
  • Establish and monitor internal controls and workflows to safeguard operational integrity.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop teams across Finance & Risk Operations, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet operational demands and strategic priorities.
  • Drive a focus on continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing within the team.

Business Partnership & Collaboration

  • Act as a liaison between operational teams and senior management and collaborate with Risk and Finance functions to mitigate operational risks.
  • Support Finance and Risk teams in delivering strategic initiatives, such as stress testing, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects, including regulatory change implementations and system upgrades.

What are we looking for?Technical Competencies

  • Deep understanding of financial and risk operations processes, including general ledger management, regulatory reporting, and risk data aggregation.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., Basel III, SNB, SIX)
  • Proficiency in financial and risk systems (e.g., SAP, Hiperion, Snowflake etc.).
  • Strong conceptual skills with the ability create from complex data meaningful reports and insights.

Leadership Competencies

  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience in adopting change and process optimizations (Lean and/Six Sigma Methodologies) while ensuring operational resilience/stability.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • At least 10+ years of experience in financial and/or risk operations, with a track record of leadership roles.
  • Experience working within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of automation tools (e.g., RPA) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
