The role is part of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the Director of Infrastructure and Place.The purpose of this role is to manage Auckland Transport’s (AT’s) $8.3 billion land and property portfolio, regulatory consents, land acquisition and engagement with property developers to enable delivery of the Auckland transport system, optimise the return to AT, and maximise the utilisation of land adjacent to transport investments.This includes ensuring the provision of strategic property and planning advice, obtaining of regulatory consents (designations, resource consents, etc.), delivery of a significant property acquisition programme meeting statutory processes and responsibilities, disposal of surplus property and optimisation of land for future transport and urban land use development around transport hubs.Key Tasks will include:
- Lead transport related land use integration / placemaking / property development strategy for AT within the existing real estate inventory, or as part of the capital programmes and projects and through partnering collaborations with external parties.
- Oversee and direct the management of AT’s real estate inventory, to ensure commercial return and availability for project and transport use.
- Oversee and direct the acquisition and disposal of multi-million-dollar property to facilitate AT’s transport and project delivery requirements, while optimizing the existing real estate inventory.
- Maintaining effective networks and relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Engaging with Councilor and Local Board elected members.
- Lead the optimisation and disposal of surplus land and property assets, including consideration of optimisation of land and property for future transport use and/or urban development potential.
- Lead negotiator for property deals, public works land acquisitions, land settlements and land disputes mediations.
Ko koe tēnei | About you
- A tertiary degree qualification in law, property, business or equivalent/related discipline.
- Preferred postgraduate qualification in law, property, business or management.
- Professional membership in industry association.
- Ideally 15 years corporate property experience for a large public or private sector organisation in a leadership role.
- Ideally a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a strategic property development capacity.
- Experience with negotiation of public/private property development agreements
- Experience in managing a large team of property and planning professionals to deliver large and complex programmes of work.
