Join our industry-leading team at our European office based in Dublin /Cork, Ireland and become part of our enriching Graduate Programme.The Graduate Quantity Surveyor will work closely with a Senior Quantity Surveyor/Cost Manager who is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual administration and commercial aspects side of construction projects to ensure that construction projects are completed within its projected cost plan budget. The Graduate Quantity Surveyor will assist with the valuation of construction works, bidding and project budgeting, and the submission of reports to the client.Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in preparation of services cost management control budgets for projects as required to support achievement of corporate objectives.
- Assists in preparation of constructed cost management control budgets for projects as required to support achievement of corporate objectives.
- Supports the design, implementation and maintenance of cost management programs and systems for the corporation.
- Works with Project teams to coordinate acquisition of input information for the cost management process for projects.
- Maintains files of project cost management processes and supporting backup documentation for reference during project execution.
- Supports the evaluation of historical data, including purchase orders, subcontracts, force reports and productivity reports and incorporate relevant data into company unit cost, material and labour factors.
- Monitors Trade Partner Contract and purchase order awards, compares awarded costs to control budgeted costs & determines the bases for variances through change management processes.
- Assists in the engagement with project Trade Partners & Client alike.
- Maintains relationships in the industry to facilitate the acquisition of estimating cost management data and processes.
- Prepares documentation to support the change management process for projects.
- Assists in review of Trade Partner change management submissions for validity
- Evaluates required bid analysis contents by reviewing requests for proposal, attending pre-bid meetings, taking minutes and communicating with project team to support the construction cost management phase.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills dealing with design team / Client (& Client Representatives) / Trade Partners / IPS Senior Management & meetings etc.
- Good attention to detail & record keeping, with an analytical approach and ability to work using your own initiative & thinking outside the box.
- Proficient experience in Microsoft Office Software
- Exposure to MEP and Cost Estimating systems a distinct advantage, but not essential.
