About the roleJoin our Governance Team, the heart of Council’s decision-making processes. In this role, you’ll ensure all legislative and procedural requirements are met, supporting elected members and staff to make well-informed decisions with community involvement. You’ll manage processes that facilitate transparency, accountability, and public engagement in Council’s work.This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.Your focus in this role will include:
- Providing detailed administrative support to elected members and Council staff.
- Building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to support the wider organisation’s work.
- Reviewing and preparing information to support robust Council decisions.
- Ensuring all Council decisions comply with legislative and procedural requirements.
- Coordinating processes that promote community involvement in decision-making.
About youWe’re looking for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for good governance and a commitment to community engagement. You should be comfortable working in a political environment, handling sensitive information with integrity, and building relationships that enhance the work of the Council.To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience:
- Strong organisational skills
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information.
- Proven ability to follow processes and meet legislative requirements.
- Experience working with hearings under the Resource Management Act and/or the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act would be an advantage.
