We take this responsibility to heart and are dedicated to providing equitable and meaningful access to our services for every resident.If you have accounting experience and are looking for a role where you can make a real difference by helping shape the future of our finance team, we encourage you to apply!DutiesAs the General Ledger (GL) Reconciliation Specialist, you will oversee and ensure the accuracy of monthly and year-end GL reconciliations. Your main responsibilities will include reviewing, analyzing, and correcting entries to ensure compliance with agency policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), the State Administrative and Accounting Manual (SAAM), and state and federal regulations. You will collaborate with finance supervisors and managers to improve processes and build connections between different teams. Your work will directly impact our ability to maintain high-quality service for the customers of the Department of Licensing’s programs.Some of what you will do:

  • Research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review staff general ledger reconciliations for accuracy.
  • Ensure timelines and deadlines are met.
  • Interpret Chart of Accounts, department directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Enter monthly data and prepare year end entries for the Capital Asset Management System (CAMS) reconciliation to the Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS).
  • Reconcile and prepare year end entries for DebtBook.

QualificationsWhat you will bring:Eight (8) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or a relevant financial field;AND18 quarter hours or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, budget, or another relevant field.Experience must include:

  • Three (3) years of experience:
  • Analyzing and reconciling general or subsidiary ledger for validity and accuracy.
  • Entering accurate accounting related information into an electronic accounting system.
  • Providing customer service by listening attentively, identifying needs or issues, providing options for customers, and exercising knowledge of state laws and regulations to assist others.
  • Interpreting, explaining, and training on agency/organization directions, policies, and procedures.
  • Conveying ideas and information in writing, using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the reader.
  • Accurately using the ten-key numerical keypad on a computer or adding machine to enter numerical data by touch.
  • Two (2) years of experience:
  • Using spreadsheet software, such as Excel to find and replace data, create, modify, print, and format spreadsheets, work with basic formulas and functions, use templates, styles, autoformat and multiple worksheets.
  • Using word processing software, such as Microsoft Word.
  • Performing research, gathering applicable records, and managing hardcopy and electronic accounting records.

Up to four (4) years of relevant education that includes 18 quarter, or 12 semester hours of accounting, auditing, or budgeting may substitute year for year for experience.(Associates degree = 2 years Bachelor’s degree = 4 years)What may help set you apart:

  • Experience accurately inputting data and reviewing transactions in Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS) and ability to run Enterprise Reporting reports.
  • Experience with the state’s Capital Asset Management System (CAMS).
  • Knowledge of Office of Financial Management (OFM) Federal and State regulations and guidelines.
  • Experience successfully directing the work of others through mentoring, coaching, and team building.
  • Experience in accounting theory, principles and practices, internal control procedures, financial management software applications, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Governmental Standards Accounting Board (GASB) requirements.
  • Experience with DebtBook software application.
  • Experience using DOL specific systems such as DRIVES, POLARIS, GenTax and RevVal.
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).
