Job description: Organizational SettingThe main aim of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations Country offices, is to assists governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, help to develop the agriculture, fisheries, and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.
This position is located in FAO Pakistan, based in Multan but supporting the implementation of the project activities in two provinces of Punjab and Sidh.FAO Pakistan with financial assistance from the Green Climate Fund is implementing a project called Transforming Indus Basin with Climate Resilient Agriculture and Water Management in Punjab and Sindh Provinces. The project aims to develop the country’s capacity to get the and use the information it needs to cope with the impact of climate change and agriculture and water management. The overall goal of the project is to enhance the capacity of agriculture and pastoral sectors to cope with climate change, by up scaling farmers adaptation of climate change adaptation technologies and practices through a network of already established farmers field schools, and by mainstreaming climate change adaptation concerns and strategies into on-going agriculture development initiatives, policies and programming.The Project seek to recruit Gender personnel to support the implementation of cross-cutting activities; gender, inclusion and as gender-sensitive agriculture.The following position is at SB3 SC6 level.Reporting LinesUnder the overall supervision of the FAO Representative, direct supervision of the project Technical Advisor, reporting directly to the International Farmer Field School Specialist and in close coordination with concerned FAO colleagues.Technical FocusEnsure timely delivery of all activities/issues related to gender, food security, livelihoods and training of trainers in the Transforming Indus Basin with Climate Resilient Agriculture and Water Management ProjectTasks and responsibilities
FAO Standards and guidelines:Liaison with the OCC will be maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, appropriate review and clearance processes.All communication materials will follow FAO clearance processes and comply with FAO standards, including:
