Essential Functions
- Under supervision, extracts, quantifies and compiles dollar amounts, converting from cash to either modified accrual or accrual basis in order to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly and other financial reports and reconciliations for internal use or as required by the Comptroller for the funds assigned, including reconciliations of cash, appropriations, expenditures, fixed assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, lapse period expenditures and other required or assigned financial reports for supervisory or management review.
- Completes Comptroller financial reporting SCO forms (both computerized and manual) for use in the annual GAAP reporting process.
- Works with external, internal auditors, the FOIA officer, and other applicable parties as assigned, to answer questions or explain records or the information provided in the GAAP packages or other financial reports.
- Assists in the preparation of documentation for the Department’s annual budget and submission to the Chief Financial Officer.
- Assists in financial reporting for DFPR. Assists in the completion of converting financial information from cash to either modified accrual or accrual basis in order to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting; A bachelor’s degree in business administration is acceptable if it includes at least 18 credit hours in different accounting courses toward such degree.
- Requires two years of experience preparing complete financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, footnotes) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), preferably for governmental type agencies.
Requires working knowledge of office methods, procedures and standard office software packages (Microsoft Outlook, Access, Excel, Word, etc).Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers active licensure as a Certified Public Accountant or Registered Public Accountant.
- Prefers at least seven years of experience preparing financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Prefers at least seven years of accounting experience.
- Prefers at least seven years of experience analyzing complex accounting records and reports
