It is how we work, consistently, be it towards the company, our colleagues or our customers.Programme OverviewThe Financial Sector Enrichment Programme (FSTEP) is an intensive graduate training programme, consisting of a 3-month classroom training in collaboration with Asian Banking School (ABS) and a 9-month on-the-job training with UOB. The programme is designed to equip talent with the right skills and knowledge for their transition into the financial services industry. UOB Malaysia is committed to recruiting and developing a team of trainees who will be coached to excel within the bank. Note: FSTEP is based on a 1-year contract and high-performing FSTEP will have the opportunity to be absorbed as permanent employee afterwards. This intake will commence in November 2024.Department OverviewThe Strategic & Business Management Team under the CEO’s Office drives the bank’s strategic initiatives and long-term business planning. This team is responsible for identifying growth opportunities, aligning business priorities with market trends, and supporting executive decision-making. By providing data-driven insights and cross-functional coordination, they enable the CEO’s office to steer the bank toward achieving its strategic goals and fostering sustainable growth.Criteria & Requirements

  • Malaysian nationality.
  • Fresh graduates or candidates with less than three (3) years of working experience.
  • Committed to complete the programme. (Trainees are subjected to a 1-year bond period)
  • Macroeconomic Expertise: Solid grasp of macroeconomic concepts and global economic trends.
  • Problem-Solving (Fixer) Mindset: Resourceful, with a proactive approach to improving processes and finding efficient solutions. Comfortable with uncertainty and able to pivot as needed to address issues.
  • Drive for Learning and Improvement: Eagerness to learn and grow within the role, demonstrating a commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Strong Work Ethic and Resilience: Demonstrates dedication to hard work, reliability, and accountability. Ability to work diligently to meet high standards, even under pressure or tight deadlines.
  • Effective Communication and Collaboration: Clear and confident communicator, able to explain complex concepts and ideas.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct Research on Strategic Priorities: Perform in-depth research on strategic initiatives that align with the bank’s long-term goals, with a strong focus on macroeconomic trends and their impact on banking operations and market strategies.

Corporate Event Planning for Employee Engagement: Lead and support the planning and execution of corporate events aimed at enhancing employee engagement across the bank, fostering a culture of inclusivity and team cohesion.Identify and Resolve Operational Issues: Actively participate in identifying, analyzing, and resolving operational challenges within the bank, implementing effective solutions that enhance efficiency and productivity.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Learn to work collaboratively across various departments, gaining exposure to different functions and building strong relationships that drive cross-functional success.Develop Positive Influencing Skills: Cultivate the ability to be a positive influence within the bank, promoting a supportive, collaborative, and motivating environment that aligns with the bank’s values and mission.Gain Exposure to Key Business Drivers in Retail and Wholesale Banking: Acquire knowledge of critical business drivers within both retail and wholesale banking sectors, with the potential to gain insights into risk and compliance management if progress demonstrates strong learning ability.Be a part of UOBUOB is an equal opportunity employer.
