Compensation: $49,980.00 – $69,972.00Under general direction of the Executive Director of Contract Implementation, the Director of Employee Hearings is responsible for conducting labor hearings and issuing dispositions, analyzing labor contracts, conducting labor relations research, and adjudicating disputes regarding collective bargaining agreement(s) and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.Position SummarryThe Financial Report Specialist is responsible for providing accounting, financial reporting, and document/data preparation/analysis support directly to the Director of Accounting in meaningful support of the Controller’s and the CFO’s objectives. The Financial Report Specialist is responsible for recording daily and monthly transactional activity within the general ledger and subsystems, as appropriate; performing month- and year-end closing activities; reconciling accounts; preparing financial related reports such as the general fund budget to actual report; coordinating the annual financial statement audit and other compliance, externally driven operational, compliance or financial audits/reviews, as assigned; developing and analyzing documents and schedules.Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support for external financial statement or other regulatory audits and reviews by preparing relevant, supportable, coherent, and accurate schedules and with most issues identified, resolved, and documented
  • Prepares account reconciliations including bank-to-book reconciliations while researching and seeking resolution of variances to perform reconciliation of cash and investments

  • Instrumentally assists in the coordination of all activities required to produce the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, Five-Year Forecast, and Tax Budget, and other documents and deliverables that may arise from time-to-time
  • Conducts variance analysis between budgeted and actual GAAP or fund financial

results and thoroughly investigates, understands, and sufficiently documents therationale for the variances and documenting results.

  • Maintain control over the district’s accounting system and the integrity of the information submitted to it
  • Preparing and issuing numerous financial reports, including the Comprehensive Annual Report
  • Collect Tax Reimbursements for Procurement Card transactions via clover system
  • Timely and accurately posts receipts including property taxes and State Foundation resources into the General Ledger and expenditure transactions
  • Provides a backup for cash management, treasury, and ACH/wire preparation or approvals and for the Director of Accounting should she/he become unavailable
  • Audit, monitor, review, and process expenditures to ensure accuracy and completeness, maintenance and monitoring
  • Assist with other duties related to the efficient operation of the office of the Chief Financial Officer and his/her executive staff
  • Assist in the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
  • Assist with the year end audit
  • Prepare and record various journal entries
  • Works under tight deadlines and handles multiple, detail-oriented tasks with close attention to detail
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in accounting, business administration or finance preferred
  • PC knowledge working in a Windows Environment, knowledge of Office 2000 Word, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Robust experience with Excel including Pivot Tables, V-Lookup, Data Query, etc.
  • 2 years’ experience in Financial Reporting Preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills with a commitment to accuracy
  • Data entry and administrative support experience
  • Excellent organization, verbal and oral communication skills, and ability to work as a team player
  • Ability to multi-task, complete work within time constraints, and collaborate with coworkers
  • The successful candidate should be willing to do whatever it takes to advance CMSD’s transformation work
