Job description: We are partnering exclusively with a family-run retail business to appoint a Financial Controller. The business which has been operating for nearly 30 years has a strong presence in Ireland, operating a number of outlets including convenience stores and service stations. The company has experienced significant growth in recent years.The group’s head office is based in East Cork, where the Financial Controller will be based. The business has a dynamic, positive and supportive environment.About the Role:Due to the continued expansion, the company is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee all aspects of the finance function. This is a key leadership position that will play an instrumental role in ensuring financial compliance, enhancing internal processes, and providing valuable insights for strategic decision-making.As Financial Controller, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data to support real-time decision-making
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and comprehensive financial reports
  • Assisting in the development and ongoing management of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
  • Conducting ad hoc financial analysis, including feasibility studies and performance analysis for new business ventures
  • Managing payroll, accounts receivable (AR), and accounts payable (AP) with the support of external advisors
  • Overseeing internal controls, processes, and KPIs to ensure financial integrity
  • Liaising with Revenue on payroll and VAT returns, ensuring tax compliance
  • Collaborating with external parties such as auditors and tax advisors, and reporting for external stakeholders

About You:To succeed in this position, the Financial controller will have;

  • A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA)
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience, with SME finance team experience (retail experience is a distinct advantage)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Exceptional organisational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with excellent critical thinking abilities
  • Advanced IT and Excel skills
