Job description: Job Description:Location: Sydney CBD | Hybrid working modelWe’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join the Trustee Services Division within MUFG Corporate Markets. Based in our Sydney CBD office with hybrid flexibility, this is a great opportunity for an early-career accounting professional who is looking to deepen their experience in financial services and develop long-term capability in a high-performing team.In this role, you will support the financial reporting and compliance requirements of Share Plan Trust Accounts, working closely with internal teams, external auditors, and our offshore colleagues. You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of accounting processes and client portfolios while building your technical, stakeholder, and leadership skills.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Focus
- Support team-wide initiatives, including process improvements and analytical reviews
- Contribute to continuous improvement in accounting accuracy and efficiency
- Take ownership of assigned deliverables and participate in ad hoc projects
Operational Management
- Prepare monthly trial balances and reconcile trust-related accounts
- Review balances and documentation prepared by offshore counterparts
- Assist with year-end financial statement preparation and tax return review
- Maintain accounting processes and checklists in line with best practices
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of reporting deliverables
People Focus
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and resolve queries as needed
- Liaise with external service providers, including tax agents and auditors
- Partner closely with offshore teams and contribute to shared success
- Receive mentoring and development support from senior team members
- Contribute positively to team culture and knowledge sharing
Governance & Risk
- Prepare audit responses and ensure supporting documentation is in place
- Apply a risk-aware approach to financial tasks and reporting activities
- Work in line with policies, controls and compliance obligations
About YouWe’re looking for a proactive, organised team player with strong attention to detail, a collaborative mindset, and a willingness to learn and grow.You’ll ideally bring:
- CA/CPA qualification or currently undertaking (supported by relevant experience)
- 2+ years’ accounting experience, ideally in financial services or a chartered environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to engage with a range of stakeholders
- A positive attitude and genuine interest in growing your technical and business knowledge
- Confidence using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word (and open to learning new systems)
