Retail is more competitive than ever, and we need to bring our A game.Not your run-of-the-mill accounting role and with plenty of opportunity to make your mark, this Inventory Accountant role is key for our retail business and we’re on the search for a commercial and proactive accountant with strong business partnering skills and a knack for process improvement to join our dynamic Finance team.Job DescriptionReporting to the Financial Controller – The Warehouse and Warehouse Stationery, your role involves maintaining the financial integrity and accuracy of the inventory within our network and operating systems. This is to minimise the control risk between the day to day operating systems and the accounting systems. You will get immersed in our merchandise, inventory and financial systems and continually look for ways to improve synchronisation and accuracy between our systems.You’ll bring financial recommendations to your key stakeholders (the likes of our merchandise, distribution centres, system projects teams) derived from sound analysis to drive effective cost outcomes, as well as apply your commercial acumen to proactively drive conversations around stock risk within the business.QualificationsAlongside strong and relevant experience as an Inventory Costing Accountant, you’ll bring a high degree of numerical and analytical capability, attention to detail, strong commercial acumen, and flexibility in your approach. Success in this role means the ability to take ownership, roll your sleeves up working in the detail whilst having a wider view and understanding of the bigger picture. Being a true business partner, you can add value to your customers, earn trust, advise, and guide the teams to make the best decisions for the business.Naturally curious and adaptable in our dynamic retail environment, you’re someone who can quickly connect and collaborate with people – you’ll encounter a variety of personalities so your collaboration and relationship management skills will be top notch!Well-versed with IAS 2, ideally you will be CA qualified, though relevant experience vs qualifications is of more importance.
